2018 Marin Fairfax SC6 DLX

Marin’s Fairfax SC6 DLX gives you everything you need get to work, the store, or to meet friends for dinner—all while leaving your car at home. Its sporty aluminum frame is light and nimble with an upright riding position that blends comfort and efficiency. The carbon fork is lightweight, responsive, and damps road buzz to reduce upper-body fatigue. The whisper-quiet Gates Carbon belt drive turns a Shimano Alfine 11-speed internally geared hub giving you a wide-range combination that virtually eliminates maintenance. To further put your mind at ease, the disc-specific wheels wrapped in puncture-resistant, reflective Schwalbe tires keep you rolling worry-free, wherever your day takes you. Full fenders and an integrated rear rack ensure you stay clean and dry while you portage your belongings across town, while hydraulic disc brakes offer easy, controlled stopping power, regardless of how many groceries you're carrying or how foul the weather. Plus, the included hub-generated front and rear lights allow you to linger over dessert without worrying about getting home before dark. The Fairfax SC6 DLX just turned your commute into the best part of your day!

      Comments:

I commute 15 miles to work, mostly open road, some city street. I love it in the city but on the open road i've found the frame flexes side to side if I take my hands off the bars. Then there is an occasional skip in 6th gear. I've read that the alignment markers are not perfect for each hub and to try adjusting just out of perfect for that to go away. I've read that this hub is not designed for long trips, touring or heavy work. Again, around town, perfect! Long hauls, find a drop bar bike with lots of hand positions and a reliable drive train.

          Comments:

Absolutely a great bike. I'm not technical at all, and don't want to be. So nothing on all the parts. It's a lightweight bike, yet sturdy enough to do the shopping (with a pair of Ortlieb bags). Practically no maintenance needed.
